Captain Rob was raised in Old Bridge, New Jersey, where his passion for fishing began at a young age alongside his father and uncles. At just 15 years old, he was hired as a mate on the Sea Pigeon, a 75-foot head boat, where he quickly developed a deep understanding of the Raritan Bay and Sandy Hook fisheries. After the Sea Pigeon was sold, he continued his career working for Captain Mike Russo aboard the Sea Hawk.

By the age of 21, Captain Rob earned his United States Coast Guard 100-Ton Master Captain’s License, a significant milestone that reflected his dedication and skill. He served as first mate during the day and captained many afternoon and night trips, primarily targeting Striped Bass, Bluefish, and Fluke.

At 25, Captain Rob began his full-time professional career, while continuing part-time aboard the Sea Hawk to further expand his knowledge. During this time, he gained extensive experience fishing mid-shore and offshore waters, targeting Tuna, Sharks, and Mahi-Mahi, as well as bottom fishing the offshore wrecks and reefs for Cod, Pollock, Ling, and Sea Bass.

Now 38 years old and living in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Captain Rob is highly experienced in the Manasquan River, Barnegat Bay, and Barnegat Inlet regions. Over the years, he has also enjoyed sharing these waters with his family, clamming, crabbing, and spending time on the sandbars and sedge islands.

With over 30 years of experience on the water, Captain Rob has fished in all types of conditions and brings a lifetime of knowledge, professionalism, and dedication to every trip. His priority is to provide safe, enjoyable, and successful fishing and cruising experiences for every guest aboard Fishin THEOry.

The “Fishin THEOry” is a 2026 Cape Horn 31T powered by twin Yamaha 350 HP engines. This vessel will reach speeds up to 60 MPH with a 40 MPH cruise making us one of the first to the fishing grounds.

Cape Horn is known for durability and functionality having a foam filled unsinkable hull.  Their moto is “None Built Stronger”. 

We have the Humphree Lightning trim and stabilization system installed.  This system automatically adjusts the trim tabs to keep us stable in all sea conditions.  This offers a safer, more comfortable, and economic ride. 

We are equipped with 37 Rod Holders, and an impressive electronics package including 2- 16” SIMRAD MFD’s, 2- VHF Radios with AIS, GPS, Open Array Radar, FLIR Thermal Night Vision Camera, and a Minn Kota Trolling Motor with Spot Lock and Lithium Batteries. We also have STARLINK so our guests can use their cell phones and have internet access no matter how far offshore we go.

For Safety Equipment we spared no expense with an 8-man life raft, EPIRB, 2 - VHF radios with AIS, a portable VHF radio, first aid supplies and more.
